Module eight Part 1 - energy in your hands

Objectives

Become more mindful of the energy flowing into your hands from the heart network

watch the video, ‘opening the chakras’ follow along, focus on the energy flowing into your hands when you open your heart chakra and practice increasing it

learn to get into the most helpful mindset before you start drawing, do what is best for you and feel any differences

Understand the importance of healthy BOUNDARIES

Don’t chase the energy, allow it to come to you, and explore it

MAKE notes about how you’re feeling and what you’ve achieved as you advance through each part of this module. this is helpful for your own growth and also it makes the evaluation & quiz at the end much easier and quicker to complete.

Yeah I know quizzes can be a pain, but think of this as a check up, so you know you are on track!

do you ever feel a rush of energy in your hands?

Do you ever feel a rush of energy in your hands? It’s a telltale sign that spirits are already trying to connect and inspire you. When I first began to develop spirit portraits, I 'knew' when spirits were urging me to draw them; I felt a buildup of energy in my hands. It started like a slow burn and gradually increased until it became undeniably hot and fidgety, as if my hands were ready to move on their own. The need to draw became more and more prominent in my mind. I realised that if I didn't start drawing soon after experiencing this energy, it simply paused until I was ready to draw, and then it returned powerfully.

As you start developing spirit portraiture, you may be able to sense this energy building up in your hands. Watch the video below to help you open up and get into the flow. The small heart chakras in your hands are connected to the other heart chakras within your body. They open when you open and activate the main heart chakra, and you can further stimulate them by directing the energy into them, rubbing your hands together, or quickly moving them back and forth from the wrist

how to open your chakras in your hands before you start drawing

As you open your heart chakra, intend to bring the energy from your chest down your arms into the small heart chakras positioned in your palms. This chakra allows the energy to flow into the drawing. Bring the energy up to the heart chakra several times, then direct it down your arms into your hands until you can feel a sensation; often warm.

This video was recorded at the beginning of a live online workshop, it shows students how to open the chakras as far as the heart.

It helps you become aware of the spiritual energy flowing through your chakras.

As you open your heart chakra, remember to intend for the energy from your chest to flow down your arms into the small heart chakra positioned in your palms.

can connecting with spirit be life-changing?

Yes, it can. Be aware that spiritual energy can either respectfully sit back and wait until it is invited, or it can overwhelm you. It depends on your boundaries. Remembering that it's perfectly okay to say no is the key to your well-being. Maintaining a healthy boundary is important in all aspects of life. It is especially prudent to establish a firm boundary during spirit-inspired art, as this artwork creates energy portals to facilitate spiritual connection.

By enrolling in this module, it is likely that you are a spiritually sensitive person, and by now, you may understand that this sensitivity is both an advantage and, at times, a challenge. It can cause you to overreact to emotional energy and sometimes feel overwhelmed by other people's energy. As mentioned in Module Four, part 4, 'the strongest emotion wins,' the same principle applies to spiritual energy. The best practice is to maintain a healthy boundary and say no until it is a good time for you to focus.

the fomo phenomenon

Initially, it is easy to feel as if saying no and closing down is a missed opportunity, allowing the 'Fear Of Missing Out' (FOMO) to draw you into an anxious mindset. It is a situation where you are so eager to open up to spirit that you allow connection whenever spirit tries to engage with you—a mindset that welcomes energy at any time and place.

Feeling FOMO is quite common because our society ingrains it in our minds, and it has become what we consider 'normal,' especially for highly sensitive individuals. The exercise 'Browse But Don't Buy' in Module Two, part 2, provides an opportunity to become aware of this unhelpful energy. By doing so, you can override the havoc FOMO can wreak on our social norms and the disturbance it can cause during impulsive spirit connections.

which is which?

Helpful perspectives on perceiving the energy of spirit versus the energy of our societal-driven ego.

Distinguishing the Two Inner Voices:

Spirit energy is subtle and calm, while our ego voice can be loud and urgent.

A sense of cooperation arises from spirit, whereas the demanding voice belongs to the ego.

Spirit is patient, discerning, and certain, while ego can be critical, anxious, and dogmatic.

Spiritual energy is swift and boundless, whereas ego seeks to slow down the energy in order to maintain control, driven by the fear of missing out.

Developing a Helpful Mindset

The most beneficial mindset is the one that works best for you, once you understand what your role actually is. Being clear about your role allows old self-sabotaging blocks to dissolve, thus enabling a stronger connection with spirit, as well as a more fulfilling life overall.

This more helpful mindset is generally characterised by calmness, composure, and a sense of connection. This is possible by understanding that there is nothing to prove. The primary role is to provide evidence that can be validated in due course, or sometimes not at all, as appropriate. The objective is to present what you receive without adding your own narrative, simply connecting the dots to create coherence when sharing the information.

Whatever you give is merely an offering, to be accepted or declined at the discretion of the recipient. While it may feel more satisfying when our offering is embraced rather than rejected, understanding that some individuals may not be ready or able to receive the information can be helpful. Don’t take the no’s personally.

Therefore, direct your focus on your mindset and set intentions for what you desire before beginning your drawings. Clear Intention provides a golden opportunity to guide the energy towards your goal right from the start.

Making interpretation clearer

The Importance of Intention.

By knowing what we intended, we have the necessary context to interpret what we receive and how to offer it.

Without intention, interpretation can be akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. The possibilities of what could emerge are as vast as the universe, without a contextual framework it rarely makes sense.

If you find yourself unsure of the intended meaning from spirit, you may sense the ego-driven voice attempting to interfere, and it's important to be aware of this potential interference.

During such occasions, you can utilise the left nostril breathing technique, which you learned in Module Two, Part 2, to enhance right-brain stimulation. This technique helps you seek a clearer interpretation. Simply ask to receive the information again in a way that is easier to interpret. Remember, when you ask, you will receive!

don’t even bother chasing the energy

Why not? Spiritual energy is super quick, as there is no physical aspect to slow it down. Accept that it operates at a speed beyond our comprehension! Instead, practice patience, set your intention, and wait for the energy to come to you. As it builds up, and it certainly will, become familiar with its presence and wait until you are fully immersed. Then, when the time is right, go for it... and trust me, the wait will be worth it. Once you feel that connection, act as swiftly as you can; you won't regret it.

Do bother to notice the difference between allowing and exploring

Take the time to notice the distinction between these two energies. Engage in the following exercise, designed to help you sense the difference.

Utilise soft pastels and employ the skrying technique to draw out the energy of "ALLOWING" using the side of the pastel rather than the tip. Allow your drawings to unfold without conscious thought.

On a fresh sheet of paper, repeat the process to draw out the energy of "EXPLORING."

Compare the variations in shape, colour, and, most importantly, how the energy feels within your drawings. Learn to attune to these differences. Though they may be subtle, they hold great significance. Dedicate time to noticing and appreciating them, it’s going to help you become more accurate when drawing your portraits.

drawing from the heart

Focusing on Feeling

When you draw, being able to perceive with your heart rather than just your eyes, you shift your focus to drawing through feeling. This approach closely mirrors the experience of creating a spirit portrait.

Practice drawing the energy of allowing and exploring until you become intimately acquainted with their differences.

Allowing is the sensation you need to recognise as you draw from the energy that spirit projects to you.

Exploring is the feeling you experience when you naturally begin to examine what you have drawn, allowing you to outline the details and complete the drawing.
